Calendar ViewCPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Challenge
These sessions provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate competency of their skills and knowledge outside the formal class setting. The participant has sole responsibility for preparing for knowledge & skill tests.
No instruction or “coaching” is provided during a challenge session. Generally, challenges are recommended only for those who have taken CPR training more than once & feel completely confident with their knowledge & skills. Students must have prior knowledge of skills and be prepared to test upon arrival.
Advanced Babysitter's Training
This course is specially designed for youths ages 11 to 15. After successful completion of the course attendees will be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid.
The curriculum also includes:
• Care for burn, seizers, severe bleeding & more
• Development of reading & relaxation games
• Practiced play skills
• Emergency recognition
• Conflict & temper tantrum resolution skills
• Emergency preparedness
Prerequisites:
Current Babysitter Certification
Must bring participant manual to class
Adult CPR/AED
For the person who only needs adult CPR training, this hands-on skills training prepares them to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults. This class is designed for individuals who are not professional rescuers. Nurses, Lifeguards, EMS students, athletic trainers and anyone else who requires training to provide CPR in a professional capacity should instead take CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
First Aid
Participants learn first aid skills for treating a variety of injuries such as burns, wounds, head, neck and back injuries, and heat and cold-related injuries. Participants also learn to manage sudden illnesses, stroke, seizure, bites and poisoning.
Adult CPR/AED & First Aid
Tues., October 26 continuing on Thurs., October 28
Learn the skills needed to prevent, recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive. This course covers first aid and adult CPR, featuring hands-on practice and real-life scenarios. Useful take-home course materials help you retain skills and serve as reference tools in an emergency. Meets OSHA Standards. This course also includes training in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) on a victim of sudden cardiac arrest.

Dog and Cat First Aid
This course provides pet owners with the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for their pets in times of emergency. Learn how to respond effectively to emergencies and illnesses with first aid, rescue breathing and other appropriate care. Videos, activities, and hands-on skills training, along with discussion will help you to become a better prepared pet owner.
The course is taught by the staff of the Animal Emergency Clinic and the fee includes an easy-to-use handbook, emergency reference guide and DVD.
Family Caregiving
This course offers comprehensive content to meet All your needs. Family Caregiving includes eight integrated modules to help you provide the best care you can.
Class topics include:

• Healthy Eating
• Caring for the Caregiver

Basic Babysitter's Training
This course gives 11 – 15 year-olds the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants and school-age children. Video, activities, hands-on skills training and discussion are used for a complete learning experience.
Learn how to respond to emergencies and illnesses with first aid, rescue breathing and other appropriate care; make decisions under pressure; communicate with parents to learn household rules; recognize safety and hygiene issues; manage young children; feed, diaper and care for infants. Course fee includes an easy-to-use handbook, emergency reference guide, and CD-ROM.
CPR/AED & First Aid Instructor Course
November 8, 9 & 10; 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
This course is designed to train instructor candidates to teach the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED courses.
Prerequisites:
• Minimum age of 17
• Fundamentals of Instructor Training session is included in the course
• Pass preliminary written exam and skills sessions at the beginning of the course
