Chapter Deploys Two Volunteers to Help Haitians Relocated to US
Monday, February 1, 2010American Red Cross of the Heartland disaster relief volunteers Lynn Willard of Roanoke and Margaret “Peg” Shipley of Bloomington left for Miami on Sunday, January 31. They are based at the relief headquarters and will support people who have been relocated from Haiti.
Lynn is deployed as a Disaster Mental Health Services Supervisor. Her role includes supervision of assigned Disaster Mental Health Associates, mental health screenings, crisis intervention, and management of referrals. As a Disaster Health Services Supervisor, Peg helps to oversee the provision of health care at the Red Cross headquarters.
They both accepted twelve-day deployments that center on relief for families and individuals that have been relocated to the Miami area.
